EEKEYS
SECURITY LEVEL
Every Item/Choice on either the MAIN MENU or SUB MENU must have
a security level associated with it. This security level is
compared to the user's security level and security filter to
determine if access to this Item by the Logged On user is to be
allowed. If the levels do not agree, the item is not included as
a choice on the MAIN or SUB MENU screen for that user. The
security level can be any number from 1 to
, it is required.
To determine if an ITEM is to be included on Tam2's menu screens
the following logic is used:
IF THE USER SECURITY FILTER EQUALS "GE" (greater than or equal to)
THEN IF THE USER SECURITY LEVEL IS GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO
THE ITEM's SECURITY LEVEL INCLUDE ITEM AS A CHOICE
IF THE USER SECURITY FILTER EQUALS "EQ" (equal to)
THEN IF THE USER SECURITY LEVEL IS EQUAL TO THE ITEM'S SECURITY
LEVEL INCLUDE ITEM AS A CHOICE.
IF ANY OF THESE CONDITIONS ARE FALSE THE ITEM IS NOT INCLUDED.

ACCESS LOGGING

inistrator, Tam2 will create
an audit trail every time a
user executes a menu choice.
The audit record is written
to a LOG file which can be
maintained, displayed or pri-
nted using the Tam2_adm prog-
ram.
When logging is enabled, each
SIGN-ON or SIGN-OFF action is
also logged. The logged data
consists on User Id, Station
Id, time & date stamp, and
the program/choice that was
selected/executed.
EEKEYS
ACCESS LOGGING
If enabled by the system administrator (thru Tam2_cfg),
the access logging facilities will create an audit
every time a user executes a program or protected pro-
gram procedure that is controlled by Tam2. This audit
trail is in the form of a log record that lists the
user id, date, time,
of each execution. Every sign
on or sign off is also listed.
Use these options to view/print these log records, and
to prevent these log files to become large, purge the
logs after they are no longer needed.

"The" Access Manager II
SYSTEM OVERVIEW
Tam2 is a complete, no non-sense, easy to use, integrated
access control/management program. To use Tam2 effectively,
it must be configured using Tam2_cfg and Tam2_adm programs.
Thru these programs, a system administrator will custom tailor
menus and options that authorized users can access via a
single keystroke.
To use Tam2, a person must be an authorized user and possess
a valid userid and password. Once signed on, a user will be
able to access only the options that his/hers security level
will allow. All others will not be seen.
Tam2 contains a help system, accessed by pressing F1, that
provides online directions and detailed information about each
facility that it provides. Press F10 from the SIGN-ON, to
Exit TAM2 and return to DOS. This may require a password.

RUN FILE PARMS
Many programs, batch files and commands require the
use of command line switches or parameters to execute
in a paricular way or the likes. If the program, batch
file or command entered in RUN FILE NAME requires
a run time/command line parameter enter it here.
This line, preceeded by a space, is appended to the
the contents of RUN FILE NAME before Tam2 menu prog-
rams initiate execution of this item. This is not a
required field. As an example, to set up a menu option
to FORMAT a 1.44 in drive A:, use the following:
RUN FILE NAME.EXT: \dos\format.com
RUN FILE PARMS
: a: /F:1.44

placed in front of the then current DOS PATH, forcing
the PATH entered here to be searched first.
The then current DOS PATH is first saved as a DOS
environment variable before it is changed and it is
restored when execution of this item is completed. For
this reason, the DOS environment of the workstation
using this option must be large enough to accomodate
the value of the original PATH * 2 + this text.

will blank out the screen,
display will turn black,
after 10 minutes of inacti-
vity. When this happens, a
user needs only to press a
key to restore the original
display. This is done to
prevent damage to the mon-
itor.
NOTE: This only works when
Tam2 screens are displayed.
EEKEYS
SECURITY FILTER
This field is used to determine the MENU or SUB MENU items/options
that Tam2 menus will display for this user. No other options will
be displayed thus preventing unauthorized access. Valid settings
for this field are EQ or GE. EQ is used to tell Tam2 menu programs
that the user security level MUST be equal to the menu item's secu-
rity level in order to display it on the menu. GE tells Tam2 menu
programs that the user security level must be greater then or equal
to the menu item's security level in order to display/include it
as a menu option.
Creative use of this feature in conjunction with the secuiry level
associated with the user and the main/sub menu options, provides a
flexible and powerful method to create dynamic menus for individual
users or groups. It is recommended that security levels for users
that have a "GE" security filter type be in the range of 1 - 4
and 5
for users with "EQ" filter types. This will prevent
GE users from accessing items setup for EQ users only.

STATION ID
Tam2 provides a facility that prevents users from accessing
the system from a station that is not associated to their
user id. To use this facility, every station that can access
Tam2 must be defined thru this program first. Then, each
user that can use this workstation to access Tam2, must be
ASSIGNED to it, do this by pressing F10 in the STATION SEL-
ECTION Screen. Finally, each workstation's AUTOEXEC.BAT file
must set the DOS environment variable STATION to equal to
one of the station id created here. The following example
shows how this is done: set STATION=TOMs-PC. If this envir-
onment variable is found/set when a users signs on to Tam2,
the user id is checked against the station assignments, and
if that user is not assigned to that particular station, an
error message is displayed and access is not allowed. This
validation is not performed if the STATION environment vari-
able is not found in the DOS environment and the user is
granted access. STATION ID can be any alphanumeric text, 1 -
